Welcome to Fresh Air Nature Photography

Fresh Air Nature Photography is an online photo club built for photographers who are inspired by the natural world. Whether you are hiking through dense forest to photograph a rare bird, crouching in tall grass to capture a deer at dawn, or standing at the edge of a mountain overlook at golden hour, this is the community for you. We welcome photographers of every skill level, from beginners using a smartphone to seasoned professionals with full telephoto rigs. What unites our members is a shared love of being outdoors, a patience for the perfect moment, and a desire to share the beauty of nature with others who feel the same way. Every month we host themed competitions across three photography categories, and our growing gallery of past winners proves just how extraordinary our members' work truly is.

Our club was founded on a simple belief: nature photography is one of the most powerful ways to connect people to the environment. When someone sees a stunning image of a red fox in winter snow, or a dragonfly hovering over a still pond, or storm clouds rolling across an open prairie, something moves in them. That photograph becomes a reminder of how remarkable the natural world is and why it deserves our attention and care. At Fresh Air Nature Photography, we are not just sharing images. We are building a community of people who see the world differently, who slow down, look closely, and find extraordinary beauty in everyday wild places. Join us, submit your work, and become part of something bigger than a single great shot.

Wildlife in Action

Our Wildlife in Action category celebrates photographs that capture animals living freely in their natural habitats. From predators mid-hunt to songbirds at the feeder, this category rewards patience, preparation, and the willingness to spend hours in the field waiting for the right moment. Strong entries show animals behaving naturally, with technical quality that does justice to the subject. Check out our Categories page for full details on what we are looking for this month.

Landscape & Habitat

The Landscape and Habitat category focuses on the environments that make wildlife possible. Sweeping vistas, intimate forest scenes, coastal wetlands, desert floors, and everything in between belong here. Great landscape photography is about more than a pretty view. It tells a story about a place, a season, a time of day, and the conditions that make that habitat unique. If you have an image that makes a viewer want to step right into the frame, this is your category.

Macro & Detail

The Macro and Detail category is all about the small and the overlooked. Insects on flower petals, dewdrops on spider webs, lichen on a rock face, the texture of tree bark, the eye of a frog. This category rewards photographers who slow down and look closely at the world most people walk right past. Technical sharpness matters here, as does the ability to find genuine beauty in something tiny. Some of our most stunning gallery entries have come from this category.
